Welcome Splash

We're creating this site to improve communication among our team members and to keep us all up-to-date.  By including such things as the schedule, directions to meets, need to know information, and other fun facts about our great team.  
 
We will also post information on other programs that are available to our younger swimmers in 5th to 8th grades.  As we all know they are the Mountie Swimmers of the future.  We hope they will use our site to stay enthusiastic about swimming.

Coach Vernon, Coach Matt, Coach Kristin

Our Coaches:

 

Head Coach Matthew Ellis is a 1998 graduate of Stroudsburg High School.  He has been involved in swimming since the age of seven.  He spent many years on the Pocono Family YMCA, and all four years of high school on the Stroudsburg High School Swim Team.  Coach Matt then went on to swim for one season for the Kutztown University Swim Team.  During that season he qualified for PSAC's, the conference meet, in the 200 free and 100 back.  Coach matt then came home to work in the construction business.  Shortly after, in 2002, he started coaching the Pocono Family YMCA Swim Team.  He is a Graduate of Northampton Community College with an Associates Degree in Education.  He now is attending East Stroudsburg University working towards a bachelor degree in Health and Physical Education.  He will graduate in the fall of 2009.

 

Assistant Coach Kristen Ellis' Coach Ellis started her swimming career at the age of eleven when she joined the Pocono Family YMCA swim team.  Over the seven years she swam for the Piranhas, she qualified for districts, states, and short course nationals.   Kristen also swam all four years for the Stroudsburg High School Swim team.  During her time in high school, Kristen qualified for districts every year and held records in the 200 Medley and Freestyle relays, 400 Freestyle relay, and 100 butterfly.   Kristen has been coaching for the past ten years and has coached at both Pocono Family YMCA and Bloomsburg YMCA.  This is her second year coaching for Stroudsburg.
